All bid proposals must be on the form provided and must be accompanied by a bid surety in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid proposal. A bid surety may be submitted as a cashier’s check, postal money order, or surety bond. (The amount of the surety bond may be stated either as a dollar amount or as a percentage of the bid proposal.) Should the successful bidder fail to enter into such contract and furnish satisfactory payment and performance bonds within the time stated in this Project Manual, then the bid proposal deposit shall be forfeited to the City of Bainbridge Island. Faxed or electronic bids and/or surety bonds will not be accepted. After the date and hour set for the opening of bids, no bidder may withdraw its bid unless the award of the contract is delayed for a period exceeding 120 calendar days following the bid opening. All bidders agree to be bound by their bids until the expiration of the stated time period.
