RFQ - Mac's Dam Removal Project

Description

City of Bainbridge IslandRequest for QualificationsMac’s Dam Removal ProjectThe City of Bainbridge Island is soliciting qualifications from engineering design firms to support the City’s Mac’s Dam Removal Project. Mac’s Dam, located on Mac’s Dam Creek on Bainbridge Island, Washington, has created a water surface drop over ten feet in height that is a barrier to migrating fish species. The City of Bainbridge Island (City) plans to remove the structure to restore fish passage to the upstream reaches of Mac’s Dam Creek as mitigation for the McDonald Creek Culvert Replacement Project. The dam was likely built in the late 1800s to provide water storage for fire protection purposes, originally serving the nearby Port Blakely Sawmill structure, which is no longer in operation. Mac’s Dam is currently located on a reach of Mac’s Dam Creek that is on private property owned by the non-profit organization Islandwood. The project design is not yet determined, although a Feasibility Study has been prepared and can be provided upon request.
