Description: The City of Gig Harbor Public Works Department (City) is requesting qualifications from consulting firms to assist with the design and permitting of the Gig Harbor Sports Complex Phase 1B located adjacent to the Tom Taylor Family YMCA at 10550 Harbor Hill Dr. This project is projected to be funded with local funds, State grants, and Federal (RCO LWCF) grants. The City has been proceeding with developing a sports complex in Gig Harbor North since the City acquired park land in this area in 2011 in accordance with the 6-year CIP. The current project phase consists of two sub-phases that are interrelated but not equivalent. The YMCA will proceed separately with the Phase 1A site development, which consists of two artificial turf fields with associated lighting and parking, and is funded in part with the City’s previously awarded legislative grant and an RCO grant. Phase 1B is the City’s portion of the complex, is approximately 3.4 acres, and includes pickleball, bocce ball, playgrounds, multiple pavilions, and a natural turf open space. When designing Phase 1B, coordination with the YMCA Phase 1A site development will be required. The design/permitting and construction ready PS&E for the project is to be completed in 2022 with construction beginning either at the end of 2022 or early in 2023. The expertise required for this project includes project management, park design, landscape design, surveying, soils engineering/grading, civil engineering design, stormwater design, utility design, building design, illumination design, traffic analysis, and the ability to effectively and efficiently meet local, state and federal permit requirements. The selected candidate will work with the City to produce a comprehensive design package, procure all necessary permits, prepare final construction plans, specifications, and engineer’s estimates (PS&E), and provide construction support and inspection services for the project.
