The City's existing Lift Station #5 (LS#5) is located along the shoreline of Gig Harbor Bay adjacent to residential houses in the 2800 block of Harborview Drive. LS#5 is almost 50 years old and consists mostly of original equipment that is beyond its service life and replacement parts are no longer available for. During seasonal high tides, a portion of LS #5 is at risk of being inundated by sea water. This improvement project will decommission the existing lift station. The City must review alternatives to replace LS#5 including converting many existing gravity sewer connections to grinder pump connections or constructing a new LS#5A in the vicinity of the existing LS#5. The project also includes constructing approximately 500 feet of a new gravity sewer main that will collect and convey sewage from outlying parcels served by LS#5 to the City's existing Lift Station #4.
